Welcome to SEPI

The Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI) is an interdisciplinary, international organization whose primary aim is to promote the development and evaluation of approaches to psychotherapy that are not limited by a single orientation.

SEPI aims to foster communication among clinicians, researchers, and theorists who wish to explore the integration of psychotherapeutic perspectives and the integration of research and practice. It provides a reference group for those interested in these topics.

Finally, SEPI serves an educational function by publishing a journal, the Journal of Psychotherapy Integration by holding an annual conference; by encouraging ongoing collaborative research on psychotherapy integration; by keeping members up-to-date concerning books, articles, workshops, and courses relevant to rapprochement among various frameworks; and by sharing integrative clinical methods.

In the spirit of encouraging multiple viewpoints, SEPI aims to promote, examine, and, where possible, integrate diverse approaches to bringing together the strengths of the various orientations in our field.

SEPI is an international organization with members of the following countries:
Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, China, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America

Having finished our PTSD survey, we are now looking at clinicians' experiences in using CBT to treat OCD.  If you have experience with such patients, I'd appreciate it if you can take this very brief survey.  Also, please forward this announcement to any colleagues who work with this population.

Thanks,

Marv Goldfried

Survey on Clinical Experiences in Treating PTSD

Much in the way that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) provides physicians with a method for giving feedback on their experiences in using empirically supported drugs in clinical practice, the Society of Clinical Psychology (Division 12 of the American Psychological Association) and Division 29 (Psychotherapy) of the American Psychological Association, have created a mechanism whereby practicing therapists can report on their clinical experiences using empirically supported treatments (ESTs). In essence, this collaborative initiative on Building a Two-Way Bridge Between Research and Practice has established a procedure for practicing therapists to disseminate their clinical experiences. This is not only an opportunity for clinicians to share their experiences with other therapists, but can also offer clinically based information that researchers may use to investigate ways of improving treatment.

This collaborative initiative has already completed surveys of practicing clinicians on the use of CBT to treat panic, social anxiety, and general anxiety disorder, and these findings will be published shortly. We are now conducting clinical surveys on the use of CBT to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and would very much appreciate your input. It should take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete, which you can do online at:

If the link does not bring you directly to the site, you may need to use control+click, or copy and paste it in your browser. We clearly recognize that your time is valuable, but believe that this is sorely need information that will benefit clinicians and researchers alike.

Thank you.
